Are .au domains for Australia-based customers only?
Just curious. Would I be able to purchase an .au domain if I'm not based in Australia or if I provide a non-AUS address?
Unfortunately .au country code Top level domain (ccTLD) is not yet offered here. But you can still purchase on other providers and then transfer the domain here.
To answer your question, basically YES you can still purchase it. The .au (ccTLD) is an extension that represents Australia. A .au domain name broadens your site's audience to Australian residents. This extension is particularly beneficial for companies that conduct business in Australia by making their URLs more recognizable for Australian residents and businesses
Hi JR. I appreciate your response. Very comprehensive. Thank you for this information. Just got back from a trip and very keen to be working on this project of mine with an Aussie client. This is very useful. Thanks a bunch. Cheers.
