If I'm not mistaken, you can disable it in ur cPanel. Make sure that you configure it on your cPanel using the correct file name for your index file. You need to index your file name correctly. Perhaps that is the reason why you are seeing this error. Your index file should be index.php or index.html You could also check if you have index files uploaded. If you have done this, then the list of directories will not be displayed. Another way is to upload an empty index.html file or an index.php file to disable the directories showing up. If all else fails, best to ask support from your hosting provider. Best of luck.

its quite easy and actually the provider should already did this.

simply add an index file on the skeleton at root's homedir.
the index file will be copied each time new hosting account created.

It's possible you have deleted some files mistakenly too. You should take a look at your files.
